On 1 July 2014, the Executive of the Council of The New South Wales Bar Association (as the delegate of the Bar Council) resolved, pursuant to section 48(4)(b) of the Legal Profession Act 2004, to refuse to renew the local practising certificate of James Edward Barnett for the practising certificate year commencing 1 July 2014 on the ground the Executive (as the delegate of the Bar Council) is satisfied that Barnett is not a fit and proper person to hold a local practising certificate.

On 5 June 2014, the Council of The New South Wales Bar Association (the Bar Council) resolved to immediately suspend the local practising certificate of Keith Edmund Becker pursuant to section 548(2) of the Legal Profession Act 2004 as the Bar Council considered it necessary in the public interest to do so on the ground of the seriousness of the conduct complained of in respect of four complaints which have been made against Keith Edmund Becker.

On 5 June 2014, the Council of The New South Wales Bar Association (the Bar Council) resolved, pursuant to section 48(8) of the Legal Profession Act 2004, to refuse to renew the local practising certificate of Keith Edmund Becker for the practising certificate year commencing 1 July 2014 on the same ground that, on 5 June 2014, the Bar Council resolved to immediately suspend the local practising certificate for the year ended 30 June 2014, namely as the Bar Council considered it necessary in the public interest on the ground of the seriousness of the conduct in respect of which four complaints have been made against Keith Edmund Becker.

The cancellation of the local practising certificate of Simon Andrew Benson took effect from midnight on 14 March 2014 pursuant to section 68(3)(b) of the Legal Profession Act 2004.

On 10 December 2015 the Council of The New South Wales Bar Association (the Bar Council) resolved, pursuant to section 45(2) of the Legal Profession Uniform Law, that the application made by Mr Craig Anthony Peter Biscoe for the grant of an Australian practising certificate as a barrister be refused on the basis that the Bar Council considers that Mr Craig Biscoe is not a fit and proper person to hold an Australian practising certificate.
Christopher Patrick Comeskey
On 25 September 2014, the Council of The New South Wales Bar Association (the Bar Council) resolved under s 48(1) of the Legal Profession Act 2004 that Christopher Patrick Comeskey’s application for the grant of a local practising certificate made on 24 June 2014 be refused on the basis that the Bar Council is not satisfied as required by s 48(3)(b) of the Legal Profession Act 2004 that Comeskey is a fit and proper person to hold a local practising certificate.
On 10 November 2014 Mr Comeskey filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of New South Wales. The Supreme Court dismissed his appeal on 25 June 2015.
John Bernard Costigan
On 28 March 2013 the Honourable Justice Garling of the Supreme Court of New South Wales ordered that, pursuant to section 720 of the Legal Profession Act 2004, John Bernard Costigan be, and hereby is, restrained from engaging in legal practice in contravention of section 14 of theLegal Profession Act 2004.

On 23 June 2016 the Council of The New South Wales Bar Association resolved, pursuant to section 45(2) of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW), not to renew the Australian practising certificate Stuart Erskine Torrington for the practising certificate year commencing 1 July 2016 on the ground that Torrington had failed to comply with a condition imposed on an Australian practising certificate.
